![]() This button layout saves me so much time, as I don’t have to navigate through tabs and drop down menus. I use 1,2,3,7,8,9 the most 7 is my hot key ‘S’ 1 is measure 8 is ctrl b 2 is crtl q 3 is crtl s 9 is open new sketch on selected face/plane. I really like the extra programmable buttons, I use 6 buttons at the most. I had the space pilot, then upgraded to the space mouse enterprise(w the whole kit). The first month of having it will be a battle, but after that I found it hard to live without it. I used to play Descent on a Logitech Cyberman2 (same type of device, using the same tech, but connected via the joystick port on old PCs). Related: if you're a Men In Black fan, watch K's desk closely in the scene where he's using the satellite to check in on his lost love. ) I doubt I'll need it though, I still have some ancient serial SpaceBall 2003 devices, just didn't want to run 20 feet of serial cable to drive it (and the 5000 is much more compact). :) After all, I gotta have a spare, just in case. I love my SB5000USB enough that I bought three and gave one to a friend who's just getting started with FreeCAD. As u/avd2023 mentioned, at first it will seem a bit awkward, but before long, you'll find it to be such a natural extension, you'll be reaching for it in software that doesn't support it. While these are older, they're dramatically more compact and extremely nice to use with solid modeling software. There doesn't seem to be floods of them anymore, but they're still there regularly. The end result is a lot of SpaceBall 5000 devices being dumped on ebay. 3DConnexion (owned by Logitech!) abandoned Windows 7 and never released drivers for the older SpaceBalls for Windows 10 (possibly in an attempt to force people to buy new hardware).
